1 July of every year is a busy day for residents of Quebec. Canada Day is dubbed ‘Moving Day’, since it’s when most of the city’s leases expire.
Unfortunately, Canada Day also happens to be a sad day for many pets in the province. Each year, over 1,600 pets get left behind in their owners’ old homes.
It’s a head-scratcher, but one company has decided to think out of the box to combat this problem. Home Hardware recently collaborated with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to create a set of cardboard boxes in the shapes of common household pets.
The message is clear: when you move, your pet should come along with you.
Of course, the adorable boxes aren’t really for fitting your pets in. The endearing initiative created by john st. is meant to increase awareness and raise money for the SPCA to bolster the surge of abandoned pets.
Have a look at some visuals from the heartwarming campaign below.
