Air France Debuts Its In-Flight Chewing Gum In This Beautiful Pastel-Hued Ad
By Izza Sofia, 13 Jul 2017
Air France and its French agency BETC Paris had passengers’ comfort in mind when they conceived a new product, “Gomme à Macher”, a chewing gum that helps travelers ease ear pressure pain during takeoff and landing.
It is well-known that one way to alleviate ear pain is to encourage chewing, so it is a nice move for the airline to package up a cure in a clever branded product.
According to Tiphaine Du Plessis, Managing Director of BETC, “We looked at what could be perceived as pain points by the passengers, and we tried to come up with creative solutions that could enhance the quality of service offered by the airline company. Also, we wanted to bring to life our brand positioning ‘France Is in the Air’.”
The airline has come up with two interesting flavours, both with a decidedly French feel; crème brûlée and pistachio macaron. In fact, the two flavours were specially chosen to fly the flag for French cuisine.
The airline will distribute the gum before take-off on flights from Paris to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Mexico City. Air France lounges at Charles de Gaulle in Paris will also offer the gum. Consumers can also purchase the gum at Air France’s e-commerce boutique and Colette.
