Welcome to the internet, where “anti-pervert” flamethrowers are sold and pictures of obscene fruits go viral.
The latest selfie trend in China has been titillating the fancies of some netizens and making others wish the ‘duck face’ was a thing again. It involves a woman cupping her hands to form a heart, and then squeezing her breast to transform the said heart into a 3D one.
You might wonder why China seems to be having an obsession with the bosom area these days. Just this week, a restaurant had raised flak for offering women discounts based on their bra sizes.
Live-streaming is a big deal in the country. The ‘heart-shaped boob’ trend was reportedly started by a live-stream “hostess” known as ‘Ayi Xi Tai Lǜ’, who had gone viral for a moment and wanted to bring that same fame back. What better way than this to boost some support for the internet’s love for boobs?
Adult material is banned in China, but that hasn’t stopped the Chinese equivalent of the ‘#HeartShapedBoob’ hashtag from blowing out of proportion on leading social network Weibo. According to What’s Next on Weibo, a good 1.5 million people have viewed these posts.
Due to censorship laws, it’s understandable that not many have brazenly taken up the challenge and uploaded actual photos of themselves. Even if people tried, their photos might end up being censored.
