Watch How The iPhone 8’s Face ID Feature Will Scan And Read Your Face
By Kylie Woon, 11 Sep 2017
A massive iOS 11 ‘gold master’ leak has shed more light on the iPhone 8’s Face ID feature, and a video tweeted by iOS developer Guilherme Rambo reveals for the first time how this technology is to be set up, 9to5Mac reports.
The security feature—expected to replace the Touch ID function currently used to unlock the iPhone—will also be used to authenticate logins and enter sensitive Safari AutoFill information within the iPhone.
Users will be required to ‘Enroll Face’ under the Face ID settings page. They will be prompted to hold their iPhone at an appropriate distance and gently turn their heads from side to side, allowing Face ID to scan their features—almost like using a Snapchat face filter, though hopefully far more precise and secure.
