Watch: Jim Carrey Calls Out NY Fashion Week For Being Utterly ‘Meaningless’
By Yoon Sann Wong, 12 Sep 2017
Jim Carrey, actor and painter whose short film I Needed Color, which details his approach to his stunning artworks and was featured last month, recently made a rare appearance on the red carpet at New York Fashion Week.
While many were enjoying the event, Carrey surprised Catt Sadler with some bewildering comments that left the E! News correspondent wide-eyed on more than one occasion. When asked what’d brought him to the event, Carrey explained that he wanted to attend the “most meaningless thing that [he] could come to.”
“There’s no meaning to any of this…you’ve got to admit it’s completely meaningless.”
Sadler responds, “They say they’re celebrating icons inside, do you believe in icons?”
“Well, that’s just the absolute lowest aiming…you know, possibility, that anybody could come up with. It’s like ‘icons’, what do you believe in icons? I don’t believe in personalities. I don’t believe that you exist.”
Carrey goes on to comment on “fields of energy” and how “we don’t matter.”
