Behold, Apple Finally Unveils The Much Anticipated iPhone X—It Is Spectacular
By Izza Sofia, 12 Sep 2017
Apple’s launch event starts off with Apple CEO Tim Cook taking the stage, addressing a short remembrance to Steve Jobs, the company's co-founder.
Held at the Steve Jobs Theater on the new Apple Campus, the event reveals the tenth anniversary iPhone—iPhone X—together with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Along with the new smartphones, Apple is also said to launch several other products, such as the LTE-capable Apple Watch Series 3, an Apple TV model with 4K and HDR support and new AirPods.
“The Apple Watch Series 3 models are also available without cellular data as well. Some of the other features of the new Apple wearable are GPS, water-resistant design, W2 wireless chip, 70 percent faster dual-core processor, all-day battery life, and barometric altimeter.”
The Apple Watch Series 3 comes with LTE support, ending the dependence of the wearable on the paired iPhone. Users will be able to get notifications, calls and messages, even when they are not near their phone. It can also be paired with AirPods, allowing users to listen to the Apple Music collection on the go without involving the iPhone.
The watch will be available to purchase on 22 September 2017, while watchOS 4 will be released to existing Apple Watch users on 19 September 2017.
“The iPhone 8 has a 12MP rear facing camera that is more powerful and can take in 80 per cent more light than the iPhone 7. The iPhone 8 Plus comes with a dual-lens 12MP camera with similar upgrades.”
Moving on to the iPhones, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus has an all-glass body and comes in silver, space grey and a new gold colour. The devices have 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch retina displays and run on an A11 bionic chip. The new phones can charge wirelessly by being placed on an inductive surface. It works with the Qi wireless standard, which Apple says it will help expand to public spaces such as airports and cafes.
The iPhone 8 will start at 64GB, from US$699, and the 8 Plus will start at US$799. Pre-orders will start from 15 September 2017, available from 22 September 2017, and iOS 11 will be released on 19 September.
“The iPhone X has a quoted two hours extra battery life than the iPhone 7. It is dust and water resistant, comes in space grey and silver, and has an OLED screen.”
In celebration of the 10th birthday of the iPhone, Apple finally unveils the iPhone X. The phone has an edge-to-edge screen and is glass all the way around. To unlock the device, users just have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. The same movement takes them back to the home screen. Siri can also help users navigate without a home button.
The iPhone X also boasts new facial recognition technology called FaceID. It has fantastic front and rear cameras at 12MP camera with a faster telephoto lens, which also gains optical image stabilisation.
The phone will start shipping 3 November 2017 for US$999 for the 64GB, and it can be pre-ordered on 27 October 2017.
