‘Pissjar Sans’, A Typeface That Is Written Out In Urine As Its Creator Pees
By Dorothy Tan, 13 Sep 2017
After all this time, the internet still has the ability to shock us.
Swedish punk band Pissjar recently recorded is first album titled Apathy & Cheap Thrills, and “decided to go for a record cover that suits the music, with a logo made of piss.”
If that strikes you as unconventional and more than a little gross, it seems that the band can go much further with their unusual graphic design choice—they decided to create an entire typeface with urine, and have all the letters written out as they pee.
According to them, in order to create this one-of-a-kind typeface, they had to “pee a lot” to make “one letter per pee session”—after urinating on some bedsheets that are wrapped around a custom frame, they would take a photo, vectorize it and edit it with a font software.
In all, the peeing took around six months, and an additional month was taken to finish up the font—you can read more about the process of creating ‘Pissjar Sans’ here.
What do you think of this novel way of making a typeface?
