The Inspiration Behind Balenciaga’s New Logo Can Be Found In Everyday Paris
By Izza Sofia, 06 Oct 2017
Demba Gvasalia, creative director at Balenciaga, is shaking things up again.
Before debuting the brand’s Spring 2018 collection, the luxury fashion brand introduced a brand new logo. The new logo looks clean and minimalistic, and Balenciaga took to Instagram to share it with a simple caption, “New Balenciaga Logo Out Now.”
Mirko Borsche worked on a collaboration together with Gian Gisiger to design the new Balenciaga logotype. The aim was to create a new, simple, timeless logo as a contemporary version of the previous classic Balenciaga brand mark.
The inspiration for the new design? The duo explained that it came from the signage found in a Paris metro station, which Gisiger and Borsche adapted to create a crisp new branding for Balenciaga.
“Conceived in-house, the development process was inspired by the clarity of public transportation signage. The result is a visually shortened logo which gives a simple, bold stamp to the timeless deluxe Balenciaga signature,” the brand explained in a statement.
