Studio Ghibli’s Rarely Seen Sequel To ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ Returns Temporarily
By Yoon Sann Wong, 12 Oct 2017
While many might be familiar with Studio Ghibli’s popular 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro, the same can’t be said of its rarely seen sequel Mei and the Kittenbus.
Created in 2002, the 13-minute follow-up never had a DVD commercial release and is only screened occasionally at the Studio Ghibli Museum in Japan. The film revolves around ‘Mei’ and ‘Kittenbus’, the child of the original ‘Catbus’.
Mei and the Kittenbus recently resurfaced after Japanese Twitter user @33kitta shared movie stills from the film. Fortunately for those in the country, Studio Ghibli Museum will be playing the sequel between 1 and 30 November.
Those in Tokyo can also visit the menu-less Amazon Bar, open for a limited time from 20 to 29 October.
