After President Trump tweeted that TIME had pursued him to fill the ‘Person of the Year’ title and he turned it down, the internet decided to lend the magazine a hand by finding other candidates who were equally, if not more, suitable for the spot.
The ball started rolling on Wednesday, when BuzzFeed’s AM to DM segment called for nominations for the role.
Twitter began suggesting notable characters who helped make this year a little mundane. These contenders include the ‘Distracted Boyfriend’ and the Twitter employee who took down Trump’s account. There were even non-human nominees like the adorable ‘Porgs’ from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Check out some possible ‘Person of the Year’ successors. TIME magazine will officially announce its crowning on 6 December 2017.
