Although Samsung has had plans to include in-display sensors into its devices for several years, technical hurdles have consistently gotten in the way.
The in-screen fingerprint scanner that was anticipated for, but never made it to, its Galaxy S8 is an inclusion that might just become a reality for the brand’s upcoming Galaxy Note 9, estimated to launch some time in August or September 2018.
Earlier today you saw the “world’s first” in-screen fingerprint scanner in action. While some might have hoped the technology would make it to the upcoming Galaxy S9, South Korean news outlet The Investor reported late last year that Samsung had dropped its plans to incorporate this into the model.
Instead, the technology could make its way to the Galaxy Note 9. This speculation is further supported by a recent tweet, posted by a source known to share mobile leaks via Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo.
