Last Tuesday, Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched the ‘Falcon Heavy’ in space after seven years. One of its “passengers” was Tesla’s ‘Roadster’, but little did many know that another ‘Roadster’ was also onboard.
The ‘Hot Wheels’ model of the Tesla ‘Roadster’ joined the full-sized vehicle as it flew away from earth, causing the toy’s market value to skyrocket.
According to BGR, the ‘Hot Wheels’ version of the car “only cost about US$1” when it debuted in stores a few years ago. Now, it can go up to 100 times its original price.
Listings of the red-colored ‘Hot Wheels Tesla Roadster’ on eBay are reportedly rising in price. Some have already been sold at about US$50, while others boast increasing bid costs.
“Some pristine examples are being listed as high as US$200 or more, but those aren’t selling nearly as fast as those in the US$50 range,” noted BGR.
If you had the foresight of investing in a US$1 ‘Hot Wheels Tesla Roadster’, it might now be the perfect time to wheel away with some extra cash.
