Smartphone brands aren’t just pitting themselves against each other on the technological front anymore—they’re also competing to see who’s the snarkiest.
Earlier this week, Samsung dissed Apple’s newer iPhones when it officially introduced the Galaxy S9 series. As it turns out, karma has a way of coming back to you.
Just two days after Samsung’s grand event, Chinese competitor Huawei uploaded a promotional video for its Mate 10 phone that’s an obvious mockery of the Galaxy S9.
Posted on the Huawei Mobile Singapore Facebook page, the advertisement copies Samsung’s typeface and “The Camera. Reimagined” trademark to convey a clear message: that users “deserve an intelligent phone,” preferably an AI-powered one like the Huawei Mate 10.
“Why choose ‘9’ when you can have ‘10’?” the company teased in the video’s caption.
Android phone makers aren’t the only ones that fall prey to Huawei’s brazen trolling. When iPhone X first came out, the Chinese manufacturer swiftly rolled out a witty campaign that claimed superiority over the “clownish” Face ID.
