While the introduction of iPhone X seemed to have sparked a generation of US$1,000-tier phones in the past year, a recent report indicates that Apple might soon be bringing in a budget laptop.
The latest investors memo released by reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo discusses the highly anticipated iPhone lineup for 2018. It also includes a note that the brand has plans to launch a new 13-inch MacBook Air in the second quarter of the year.
Kuo predicts that the new MacBook Air will have a “lower price tag” that might help boost MacBook shipment rates by 10 to 15 percent.
The current 13-inch MacBook Air starts at US$999, and apart from the clause that indicates the next-gen one will be cheaper, Kuo did not elaborate more.
MacBooks aren’t the only products that Apple will reportedly launch more affordable counterparts of this year. The analyst believes that an upcoming larger-sized iPhone will be cheaper than US$999, the current starting price of the iPhone X.
