Mattel Debuts Another ‘Inspiring Women’ Range Of Limited Edition Barbie® Dolls
By Yoon Sann Wong, 12 Mar 2018
Following Mattel’s 17 new Barbie® dolls—designed after real life female role models including artist Frida Kahlo—for International Women’s Day, its Australian arm has debuted a limited edition range following a similar theme.
Mattel Australia’s ‘Never Before’ series comprises six designs inspired by roles that have never been fulfilled by women. The aim is to highlight the absence of gender diversity across these leadership positions in the country.
The six roles include chairman of the Australian Football League, commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, governor of the Australian Reserve Bank, head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization, president of the Australian Olympic Committee and the first woman on the moon.
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne is the agency that’s bringing the ‘Never Before’ campaign to life. Ita Buttrose, the first female to edit a main metropolitan newspaper, will join the campaign to share her uplifting story as being one of Australia’s “female firsts.”
