A massive, unsolicited dick pic has appeared on an apartment building in Stockholm, Sweden, and a good handful of locals cannot take it lying down.
The blue, five-story-tall piece by Swedish graffiti artist Carolina Falkholt one-ups her previous four-story pink phallus mural, which received similar backlash when it emerged in New York in December 2017.
Residents have deemed the painting—created in the colors of the Swedish flag—“offensive,” urging the company owning the building, Atrium Ljungberg, to have it removed.
According to The Local Sweden, this particular wall serves as a legal canvas for graffiti, and artists will not need permission from locals before adorning it.
Typically, artworks on this block stay up for up to six months, but admirers of this specific piece might be sorely disappointed to learn that it will not remain erected for long.
“Culture and art are important in developing interesting urban environments,” explained Camilla Klimt, marketing manager at Atrium Ljungberg. “Of course, we care about artistic freedom. But at the same time, we must respect neighbors’ opinions.”
In addition to the verbal disdain, an anonymous resident has expressed their opposal by putting up cloth banners spelling, “Keep your penis inside,” over the painting.
The artist behind the veiny creation believes the major cockblock is a result of people’s aversion towards a very natural phenomenon. “They should consider what it is they are so upset about and then talk about it,” Falkholt told Swedish publication Aftonbladet.
“Sex is so important, but it’s always been too dirty to discuss.”
