Coke’s Special Can Design & Ad Cheers To Peace With Donald Trump & Kim Jong-Un
By Yoon Sann Wong, 14 Jun 2018
Coca-Cola has dedicated two special marketing initiatives in honor of the recent historical peace summit held in Singapore, where US President Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
In partnership with Dentsu’s Merdeka LHS, Coca-Cola not only brought the two world leaders together in an animated handshake using its signature “swirl,” but also had some of its can packaging redesigned to sport a special Coca-Cola logo—half in English, half in Korean. The words, “Here’s to peace, hope and understanding,” sits beneath the logo in both languages.
Recently, the brand won hearts worldwide with its stirring Ramadan ad that brings people together.
Aside from these advertising initiatives, the peace summit also gave rise to witty Trump-Kim memes that left the internet in stitches, a pseudo movie trailer made by Trump especially for Kim Jong-un, which came with credit to a film studio that has expressed its complete bewilderment over the inclusion.
