For many women, shopping for undergarments is never a breeze. Bra sizes aren’t cut the same across fashion brands, and to make matters worse, putting on the wrong size can be harmful in the long term.
“From day one, my goal has been to create bras that that help women feel confident and comfortable,” said Heidi Zak, CEO of five-year-old premium bra brand ThirdLove. “The knowledge that any woman has been left out makes me feel like I’ve failed.”
ThirdLove already broke boundaries by releasing bras for multiple skin tones and body types, but it now hopes to make more women feel comfortable in their own natural selves with the launch of 24 new sizes—amounting to a total of 70.
According to Zak, there are over 1.3 million women in ThirdLove’s waitlist. “It’s clear that there’s an incredible demand for larger bras, but many brands have chosen not to bother with women with larger bodies,” she told Fast Company.
While the new sizes—which reach up to band size 48 and cup size H—cost 45-percent more to create, Zak emphasized that the bras are priced the same across the range. “The aesthetic, look and feel of these new bras are exactly the same as ThirdLove’s other offerings.”
All in all, ThirdLove introduced these sizes to hear one thing from its customers: “You carry my size!”
