If the zodiac signs were to take the form of goddesses, what would they possibly look like?
Illustrator and full-time musician Emilee Petersmark imagines their forms in these promotional posters for American band The Accidentals that comprises Savannah Buist, Katie Larson, and Michael Dause.
This self-proclaimed “part-time comic nerd” explained to BuzzFeed that she was approached by the band in 2017 to create, over the span of one year, 12 posters inspired by the zodiac.
“I love how connected some people feel to their signs—and by extension, to artistic interpretations of their signs,” she told BuzzFeed. As such, Petersmark aspired to make something really special for these people, and felt enthused to craft a series that explored strength as well as femininity in different ways.
Making a new poster each month not only enabled a “natural evolution” to transcend between each graphic, but also permitted Petersmark to visualize the progress she’d made in her skills over the course of a year.
Since The Accidentals began its tour in May 2017, Petersmark started with Gemini. Through this project, the illustrator shared that she’d gained greater appreciation for the mythology behind each sign.
The prints are available for sale online as limited edition posters, priced at US$30 each. Unfortunately, the individual posters for Gemini, Cancer, and Leo have already sold out and are only available as part of the complete poster set, priced at US$320. Alternatively, there’s the postcard set of all 12 graphics at US$15.
