This year, ESPN The Magazine celebrates the 10th anniversary of its annual ‘The Body Issue’, which zooms into the lives of athletes and has them posing nude or semi-nude in photographs. In marking the milestone, the publication spotlighted its first gay couple, soccer player Megan Rapinoe and WNBA basketball player Sue Bird.
In an Instagram post, magazine cover curator Cover Junkie compiled all 10 front graphics of ESPN The Magazine’s ‘Body Issue’ 2018.
A total of eight men and eight women of ages 21 through 63 made the pages of this year’s issue, which hit newsstands on 29 June. The athletes hail from various backgrounds spanning 10 sports fortes.
Apart from the couple, the ensemble includes soccer players Crystal Dunn and Zlatan Ibrahimović, softball player Lauren Chamberlain, basketballers Karl-Anthony Towns and Breanna Stewart, figure skater Adam Rippon, baseball star Yasiel Piug, as well as footballers Jerry Rice and Saquon Barkley.
View all 10 covers in the slideshow below, and read the issue’s feature story here, where it also brings focus to five other athletes.
