‘Colonel Sanders’ has a new face, and it’s a familiar one that you might have seen through the best years of your life.
KFC has announced the successor to Reba McEntire, who was appointed the first female ‘Colonel Sanders’, as celebrity incarnation of the ‘Colonel’—it’s Jason Alexander, who played the slow-witted ‘George Costanza’ in Seinfeld.
Alexander will promote the restaurant’s new US$20 ‘Fill Ups’, which now comes in four choices: original fried chicken, ‘Extra Crispy’ chicken, boneless breast filets, and ‘Extra Crispy’ tenders. Each option is served with sides and biscuits.
“As the son of two working parents, there were plenty of dinner times when a bucket of chicken and all the fixins saved the day,” described the actor. “It’s been fun to combine my personal love for KFC with my sitcom experience into a new take on the role of ‘Colonel Sanders’.”
Explaining the reason behind the enlistment, Andrea Zahumensky, CMO at KFC US, said, “[T]here’s no better person to spread the word about our new ‘family of four’ in a sitcom setting than comedy extraordinaire Jason Alexander!”
