Dave Bautista Wants To Quit ‘GotG’ If Disney Doesn’t Use James Gunn’s Script

Dave Bautista is still unhappy following Disney’s firing of movie director James Gunn.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star, who plays ‘Drax the Destroyer’, rallied together with fellow members of the cast in an open letter that calls for the reinstatement of Gunn.
A concerned fan took to Twitter to ask Bautista on his upcoming plans if Gunn is not brought back to direct the third installment in the series.
Bautista replied, “I will do what I’m legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. It’s also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis. That’s just how I feel.”
Disney dismissed Gunn in July after discovering tweets he posted back in 2008 and 2011 with regards to pedophilia and rape. Bautista joins Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana in advocating for Gunn’s return.
Though he is legally contracted to star in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Bautista told ShortList that he was willing to break the contract if Marvel did not use the script that Gunn had prepared for the film.
He told the entertainment website that he would be “doing James a disservice” if he didn’t release himself from the contract and told Marvel to either cut him out, or recast him, if it refused to use Gunn’s script.
Bautista added that his actions might not necessarily lead to Disney rehiring Gunn, nor was he defending Gunn’s tweets, but he hopes to vouch for Gunn’s character through this stance.
He described Gunn as one of the “kindest and [most] decent [persons]” he has ever met.
