A contestant of Family Feud Canada had lost CA$10,000 (US$7,655) after providing the wrong answer about Popeye the Sailor, but was soon rewarded with the same amount of free food because Popeyes agreed with her.
Contestant Eve Dubois was asked to “name Popeye’s favorite food” to win CA$10,000, and confidently answered “chicken” along with a slow emphasis on the word and a little dance.
Her response left many in stitches, as the host Gerry Dee was clearly referring to the preferred diet of the cartoon character, not the fast food chain.
Immediately after, her opponent Logan Tomlin correctly replied with, “Spinach.”
The misfortunate contestant turned to face her family members, and one said “oh my god” in disappointment. She soon realized her mistake and told the host, “I thought you meant Popeyes chicken!”
The clip of her gaffe, along with her awkward dance, has made its rounds, spurring the fried chicken chain to offer her CA$10,000 worth of food items from its menu.
The company shared the news on Twitter by tagging Dubois in a tweet with a cheque assigned to her.
“Our survey says you got that right. [Message] us to claim your $10,000 worth of Popeyes. #LoveThatChickenFromPopeyes,” the company wrote.
