It is clear that littering can result in catastrophic consequences on the environment. When trash is tossed around, it can travel into water streams, leading to air and water pollution, which ultimately kills animals and affects human lives.
That is why Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park is mailing visitors back the garbage they have left behind at its vicinity.
Varawut Silpa-Archa, Thailand’s minister of natural resources and environment, shared photos of cartons filled with rubbish collected at the National Park on Facebook. The minister announced that litterers will receive packages of the their rubbish they have irresponsibly discarded at the park.
“The garbage that tourists left in the park is now packed into boxes. It’s ready to be returned to the owners of the garbage,” the post reads.
Each package comes with a little note to remind visitors to be accountable of their waste. “You have forgotten some of your belongings at the Khao Yai National Park. Please let us return these to you,” the message reads.
If you’re wondering how the litter is transported to the visitors’ homes, well, the National Park has made it mandatory for guests to leave their contact information, including their home address, when they enter the park.
