Rock band The Flaming Lips has performed a socially-distanced show in its hometown of Oklahoma with the members of the crowd separated in individual plastic orbs.
The band has been playing at The Criterion, which is a venue that houses 3,500 people. This time around, however, the venue had 100 bubbles for 100 concertgoers.
The one-of-a-kind show was a part of the band’s music video shoot, and the idea first came to lead singer Wayne Coyne during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I did a little drawing…where I drew a picture of The Flaming Lips doing a show in 2019. And I’m the only person in the space bubble, and everybody else is just normal,” Coyne told CNN.
“Then I did another drawing with The Flaming Lips playing a show in 2020. The exact same scenario, but I’m in a bubble, and so is everybody else.”
Check out how the concert went down below.
