There have been a plethora of fake videos about alien invasions out there in the interweb. While some are easily distinguishable as spoofs, others are realistic enough to prompt a second look. Now, you can simply generate a believable clip of extraterrestrial spacecraft and otherworldly objects in the sky through artificial intelligence.
AI researcher Zhengxia Zou from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor has created a program to execute “sky replacement and harmonization” to smoothly product realistic and over-the-top sky backgrounds using AI.
The program uses neural networks that study relevant patterns from a large sample database to generate the aerial phenomena in videos. Basically, the AI has learned how skies look like in videos and attempts to identify and monitor it. Then, it can be replaced with a new “sky” that fits well with the lightning and backdrop,
The AI only needs a source video to add spaceships or anything else you’d like into the original video. The program can be found here.
