Ellen DeGeneres is pushing from controversy surrounding alleged toxic workplace practices with a new furniture design competition series on streaming service HBO Max.
Entitled Ellen’s Next Great Designer, the six-episode show will see seven talented up-and-coming furniture designers tapping into their creative prowess to overcome design challenges. Only one can emerge with a US$100,000 prize.
DeGeneres hosts the show alongside actor and design enthusiast Scott Foley, who will also take on the role of a judge. Joining the panel of experts are interior designer Brigette Romanek and contemporary artist Fernando Mastrangelo.
“Anyone who knows me knows how much I love furniture,” the talk show host declared in justification of her launching a furniture design competition. DeGeneres previously helmed a reality competition named Ellen’s Design Challenge on HGTV in 2015 and 2016.
Contestants comprise furniture designers Alejandro Artigas, Arielle Assouline-Lichten, Christina Antonio, Erica Sellers, Mark Grattan, Paul Jeffrey, and Urvi Sharma.
