Subway Sandwiches Are Free For Life With Foot-Long-Sized Tattoo

As you know, getting a tattoo has lifelong repercussions. It’s not often that these consequences involve food, though.

Forget that ‘Mom’ tattoo—for a limited time, Subway is turning the bodies of its most loyal fans into walking coupons for free food. On July 27, it is hosting a block party in honor of its Subway Series menu, celebrating the “12 best and most craveable sandwiches in company history, where carb-loving folks can get inked with a permanent design that will grant them free subs for a month, a year, or even for life.

There is a catch that will likely bother those who are nitpicky about body art, however: You can’t get a tattoo of a regular sandwich. The only valid artwork for free food is a baseball-themed Subway Series logo, which looks like this:

The upside is that the tattoo will be inked by DJ Tambe, two-time winner of the Ink Master reality competition, or someone from his tattoo parlor.

How big your pile of free subs is will depend on the size of the body art. A two-inch tattoo of the logo on your wrist, bicep, or foot entitles you to a month of sandwiches, and a three-inch tattoo grants you free subs for a year.

The holy grail arrives in the form of ‘The Footlong’, a 12-inch tattoo that promises a lifetime of free sandwiches if you have the logo inked onto your sternum or back. All qualified tattoos will be rewarded with gift cards, so there’s no need to lift up your shirt for proof.

The brazen deal runs along the veins of a notorious promotional deal in Taiwan, where people officially changed their names to “Salmon” to score free sushi. Just like people with tattoos, some customers couldn’t get their old names back.

Unfortunately, the event will run for only six hours, and just nine tattoos will be allowed, with only one ‘Footlong’ design going to the first volunteer. The block party will be held at the Bad Apple Studio in Las Vegas from 8 am PT.
