Gmail Will Study Your Email Habits For A More Intuitive Search Tailored For You
By Nicole Rodrigues, 30 Nov 2022
Most of Gmail’s users will have used the search bar at least once, or maybe even once a day, if you’re constantly bombarded with work emails. Unfortunately, the results are often very generic or not as intuitive as one would like them to be.
As an answer to that, Google is revamping its search function in Gmail to study your habits closely and provide the right solutions to all your pressing questions.
The new mode is to be set up as a conversational search function like Google Assistant instead of the clinical method that is now being used. The system will study your previous inquiries and the items you click on for more contextual and relevant results.
The function will prompt terms as you type keywords that have been collected from your messages, contacts, and labels.
However, this will only be available once you enable Web and App activity in your Google account. For some, this may not be welcome news, as Google has previously been questioned about its privacy policies and safeguarding its users’ data from being sold or used.
This new upgrade comes with multiple other changes to Gmail, including tracking your delivery packages with updates sent straight to your inbox and sharing Docs, Sheets, and Slides with Meet call mates through the in-house chat.
