Disney Presents Rainbow Mickey Mouse Designed By Late Virgil Abloh

Disney and Virgil Abloh Securities, the late fashion designer’s estate and a creative company founded by himself, have joined forces to unveil an impressive six-foot statue of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey from Disney’s Fantasia at London’s Royal College of Art (RCA). Aptly named Structural Sorcerer—a Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Sculpture, this masterpiece was commissioned by Disney and designed by ALASKA ALASKA and supports the Make-A-Wish foundation.
This sculpture is based on an image of Mickey Mouse that Abloh designed for Mickey’s 90th birthday. The design is inspired by the classic Disney film Fantasia, which captures the magic that Disney will eventually spread over the years.
The statue depicts the iconic form of Sorcerer Mickey just as he’s about to cast a spell. Also, ALASKA ALASKA has incorporated Abloh’s grid furniture aesthetic into the six-foot sculpture, adorned with rainbow colors and the quote, “Walt Disney lives in all of us.”
Visitors to the RCA can visit the installation throughout the summer as it takes center stage as part of the Create 100 initiative. This initiative also aims to nurture and empower the next generation of artistic talent, fueling creativity and ingenuity.
“Disney’s timeless stories and characters have made an indelible mark on pop culture around the globe, transcending borders, industries and generations,” said Tasia Filippatos, president of consumer products, games and publishing. “We couldn’t think of a better way to honor 100 years of Disney storytelling than by collaborating with this outstanding collective of visionaries in support of Make-A-Wish.”
The Create 100 initiative doesn’t stop there. Multidisciplinary artist Favour Jonathan also contributed to this celebration of Disney’s magic by crafting a sculpture of Dr Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.
In other areas of its celebrations, Disney has just teamed up with H&M for a collection of streetwear and skateboards.
