Nikon F6 Wins Camera Grand Prix 2005 Special Prize
TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that the F6 Film SLR Camera has been selected by the Camera Press Club to receive the Camera Grand Prix 2005 Special Prize.

The Camera Grand Prix is the most prestigious award that can be presented to a camera in the Japanese photo industry. It is selected by members of the Camera Press Club, which is comprised of respected photographers, scholars and writers for photography and camera publications, as well as chief editors and magazine representatives.

In the 22nd annual Camera Grand Prix award this year, 192 cameras - all released between April 2004 and March 2005 - were nominated. The Special Prize by the Camera Press Club is given to one camera among the nominees that has been recognized as superior in both popularity and technological advancement.

The Camera Grand Prix was established in 1984, and has awarded Nikon its Special Prize five times. Previous wins occurred in 1994 for the Nikonos RS, in 1999 for the Nikon COOLPIX 950, in 2000 for the Nikon D1, and in 2002 for the Nikon FM3A.

The Nikon F6 was given the honor this year because of, among other things, the perfection of its basic features such as viewfinder, AE, AF and film advance. Its compact, rugged, lightweight metal body increases mobility while the highly refined design, subdued operational sounds and minimized vibrations provide an enhanced enjoyment of photography. Moreover, the F6 provides other cutting-edge features such as the Creative Lighting System for incomparable flash photography, a high-precision, durable shutter unit with built-in Shutter Monitor and a rear LCD panel that shows each shot's camera settings and information.

To release the flagship model of film SLR cameras during the rapid spread of digital SLRs is considered a great corporate achievement. Thanks to the F6, a wide range of users - from professional to amateur - are now rediscovering the excitement of film SLR cameras.
