Today, Yahoo has launched a new lifestyle portal dedicated to food information and content in order to help advertisers and marketers reach out to foodies and the simply epicurious. Yahoo! Food serves up video and articles from celebrity chefs via partners like Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, and Epicurious.com. It also contains a searchable recipe database through Yahoo's own search engine and a partnership with Allrecipes.com. Users can search by ingredient, cuisine, holiday, taste or type of meal. The portal adds food-related user community features like recipe sharing and reviews, and a "My Food" module to which users can save their favorite articles, recipes and searches.

According to Yahoo Lifestyles GM Deanna Brown, food recipes constitute "the original file-sharing, [as] people have swapping recipes for years." She hopes that Yahoo's newest lifestyle portal will "answer [arguably] life's biggest question, 'what's for dinner?'"

Brown also added in a statement, "Food is a necessity for everyone and an obsession to others, and we are thrilled to combine all these food features from great partners and marketers and present them in a seamless, integrated experience."

Yahoo Food is integrated with other Yahoo properties like Yahoo Local, which features location-based dining and restaurant reviews, and Yahoo Answers, which highlights food-related questions. The new site will also feature food blogs from 13 respected culinary figures including New York Times food writer Ed Levine and Mr. Puck himself, food-related celebrity Q&A's, and an original online cooking show.
