In the last few years, the field of Design has been more prominently featured and regarded than ever before. What's particularly interesting though is that Design has been popping up in areas where it has traditionally has not. No longer just about furntiture, automobiles or buldings, Design thinking and principles are widely accepted and used today for strategic planning, research and figuring out hardcoare business problems. Intelligent leaders no longer just plan a solution, they design for success.
It is no wonder that many employers today, while still headhunting talent with the highest content expertise, are looking for people with this peculiar ability to think and work like designers. Where will this talent come from? Are countries investing in this design sufficiently? Do we all still think of design as beautiful logos and products only?
Can we have our future generation learn design without being designers in the
traditional sense? Are our kids already design-centric, and hence, the problem lies with us, the educators? When are we seriously going to redesign design as a discipline?
Unless we have new questions on this topic, how can we find new answers?Head of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design, Dan Boyarski, will join us in conversation about this topic.
