This exhibition, by the American artist Alex Katz, focuses on the people and architecture of New York. The exhibition comprises portraits of his friends and family set against a backdrop of New York City - which include portraits of famous artists and writers such as Allen Ginsberg. The exhibition also includes architectural views of the city, its Manhattan sky line and its Modernist architecture. Katz deftly captures his subjects place and distills the highly stylish beauty that is New York City.
The exhibition is curated by Rachael Thomas, Senior Curator: Head of Exhibitions, IMMA and Juan Manuel Bonet, independent curator, consultant, art historian and former Director of the Reina Sofía National Museum of Modern Art, Madrid, Spain.
A fully-illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition with contributions from eminent poets, writers and curators and an essay by Rachael Thomas and Juan Manuel Bonet.
