SVA: A Tilted View
PRESS RELEASE

Two members of the MFA Fine Arts Department faculty have recently been acknowledged by prestigious institutions. Sarah Sze (MFA 1997 Fine Arts) has been commissioned by Sweden's Malm? Konsthall, one of Europe's largest exhibition spaces for contemporary art, to create a new site-specific work, Tilting Planet. The installation will fill the entire exhibition space and interact with the surrounding architecture. Sze has created a complex network of patterns, structures and details, formed out of small everyday objects--such as matches, wool, plants, fans and ladders--that work together to create a sense of movement through the space. Tilting Planet will be on view through Sunday, February 18.

Also, Village Voice art critic and SVA instructor Jerry Saltz has been named this year's recipient of the Frank Jewett Mather Award from the College Art Association (CAA). The award is given to a noteworthy author of art criticism that has appeared in whole or in part in North American publications. CAA President Nicola Courtright will present the award at a ceremony on Wednesday, February 14. For more information, visit www.collegeart.org.
