The Industry Measure Releases 2007 Stock Image Industry Market Sizing Report
PRESS RELEASE

The Industry Measure (formerly TrendWatch Graphic Arts) has released an update to its popular Stock Industry Market Sizing report. This report provides accurate and carefully weighted market projections for royalty-free and rights-managed images, as well as CD collections, for the following four marketplaces:

Publishers
Internet design and development firms and departments
Estimates are provided in both units and dollars. A separate section also provides market share breakdowns for each image category by the sub-classifications within each of the four marketplaces surveyed.

Report Notes
Because the stock image industry is extremely fractured and dominated by small and mid-sized, privately owned companies, creating accurate estimates is extremely difficult. The Industry Measure has an advantage in that, instead of starting with the stock image companies, it can take advantage of its yearly and twice yearly mail surveys of these four key marketplaces to ask the purchasers of stock images themselves how many images they purchase on a monthly (or, in the case of CD collections, annual) basis and how much money they spend on them.

These numbers are projected out using The Industry Measure's highly reliable demographic database and weighted by employee size category. In addition to the detailed market projections and market share breakdowns, the report includes fascinating "attitudinal data" on how many stock image houses respondents do business with and their key factors in choosing them. In the Stock Industry Market Sizing Report: 2007, these data are compared to the responses from one year earlier.

The most dominant trend in this data is the growth in single-sourcing. This trend existed in all key marketplaces but one -- Internet design and development -- where respondents have gone the opposite direction, increasing the number of stock image houses with which they are currently doing business.
