REDMOND, Wash.--PlayNetwork Inc., a leading provider of integrated media services for business, today announced the release of DiscoveryPark, a fully licensed music podcast series that highlights music tracks worth discovering. Discovery Park is available for download at: www.itunes.com.
While serving as entertainment available for the general public, DiscoveryPark is a model Branded Podcast for business that offers retailers and other businesses the ability to customize and deliver brand messaging and music episodes to their customers for use outside the typical store environment. PlayNetwork will demonstrate its DiscoveryPark podcast, client podcasts, and other music and video media — an integrated media experience inside and outside a retail store — in booth 5031 of the Digital Store portion of the GlobalShop trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 7-9, 2007.
"Podcasting is an increasingly attractive channel of communication," said David Brewster, PlayNetwork's Senior VP of Promotional & Creative Services. "From a business marketing standpoint, it is so effective because consumers are seeking out and downloading music. They willingly subscribe to receive the branded messaging that is weaved into the podcast. The more attractive the music is to the target audience, the more likely the messaging will be heard in a very focused one-to-one relationship."
PlayNetwork, a company known for developing innovative, brand-specific music and video programs and playback systems and strong music label relationships, has stepped beyond traditional thinking for retail entertainment by making waves with its licensed music podcast initiative. Currently developing a number of client-branded podcasts, PlayNetwork has launched DiscoveryPark via iTunes to showcase the efficiencies and benefits of this service.
"The theory behind PlayNetwork's podcasting initiative is a very solid idea," said Matt McGreevy, Epitaph Records, one of many labels PlayNetwork works with for podcast licensing. "We believe that however people are going to find new music is a space we want to be aware of and involved in."
PlayNetwork plans to release a few DiscoveryPark podcast episodes each month, created by PlayNetwork's internal programming staff.
