Michael Hockney, Chief Executive of D&AD for the last four years announced today that he intends to step down from his role.
Michael Hockney said today: "I have really enjoyed my time at D&AD and am proud of the achievements we've made. It has been a stimulating and demanding four years. I've worked hard to assemble a staff team of talented individuals and I am confident that the charity will go from strength to strength. One of the great things about working at D&AD is the support and time willingly given by leading creatives. It's a measure of the regard in which they hold D&AD. It's been a privilege to work closely with them. My plan is to take a mini sabbatical - I've never had one in all the thirty-five years I've been working - so that my wife and I can concentrate on renovating our house. Then to start in a new role."
D&AD Chairman, Anthony Simonds-Gooding, who has agreed to oversee the work of the management team, said today: "Michael has worked tirelessly for D&AD and has seen membership double during his tenure. He has overseen the charity's growth into a truly global entity."
Tony Davidson, D&AD President said today: 'I would like to thank Michael for his commitment to D&AD over the last four years and for guiding me through the first months of my Presidency. In his time at D&AD both the professional and student Global Awards have flourished with more entries from more countries than ever before. The Ceremony and Dinner for both the Awards competitions have become the best of their kind under his leadership. We all wish him the very best in his future career.
