The fourth art KARLSRUHE, taking place from 22 to 25 March 2007
, distinguishes itself not only by some 200 one-artist shows but above all by the sculpture zones. This time no less than 18 galleries have booked a sculpture spot - a record that substantiates the growing demand for works by sculptors on the international art market. A new feature is that this year Ewald Karl Schrade and a jury of five examined the 300 or so applications and ultimately selected the 161 participating galleries from nine countries.
Mr Schrade was assisted by the gallery owners Wolfgang Henze, Dorothea van der Koelen, Marie- José van de Loo, Werner Tammen, and the art journalist Dorothee Baer- Bogenschütz. 'The teamwork was fantastic', says Mr Schrade looking back. 'It was a pleasure to see the constructive seriousness in discussions about content, not about names, for selecting the galleries.'
