Portland Art Museum Presents Viva El Festival

In collaboration with the Oregon Potters Association, the Portland Art Museum presents Viva El Festival, an afternoon of Latin American family fun. Join us for Mexican master potter demonstrations, music, food, storytelling, and artmaking activities for your whole family!
Offered three times a year, Museum Family Sunday features hands-on activities, demonstrations, and performances in a variety of themes.
Artmaking with Visiting Artists
Decorate clay disks with potters from the Oregon Potters Association as you learn the meaning behind motifs and traditions.
Traditional Mexican Pottery Demonstrations
Alberta Sanchez Mateo and Macrina Mateo Martinez, from the pottery village of San Marcos Tlapazola in the state of Oaxaca, use their hands, burnishing stones, and corncobs to quickly form light, elegant vessels.
