LOS ANGELES, May -- This year, the Chanel "Cruise" collection is on the move. After taking over the legendary Grand Central Station in New York last year, the "Double C" brand is now presenting its collection in Los Angeles on Friday 18 May. Since Karl Lagerfeld's arrival at CHANEL in 1983, this collection has taken increasingly spectacular form on the catwalks. Originally designed for rich women travellers from across the Atlantic seeking a spot of sun during the long winter months, over the years the Cruise collection has become a real CHANEL high point, attracting
the international press and customers alike. This ready-to-wear collection, consisting of around 60 different outfits, provides something suitable for every moment of the day, and is available in boutiques in late autumn.
Presented at the Cafe Marly in 2002, on a barge sailing up the Seine in 2004, and in a number of old Parisian buses terminating at the Cafe de Flore in 2005, the show always features a real scenario and magical settings. One more reason for having a show in Los Angeles, the city of angels and the film world, where in 1931 Gabrielle Chanel turned up in person to dress the stars of that time: Gloria Swanson, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich.
