Seven radio legends have been nominated for their lifetime contributions to the broadcasting industry but only one will be honored at the 25th annual International Radio Broadcasting Awards at the Tribeca Rooftop in Manhattan on June 28.
Nominated for the prestigious award are Ray Cordeiro, Stan Freberg, Ira Glass, Charles Grodin, Paul Holmes, Don Imus and Dick Orkin. Nominated by New York Festivals Radio Broadcasting Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors, the decision now rests in the hands of radio professionals throughout the world. Previous winners include Air America's Al Franken (2006) and The Rest of the Story's Paul Harvey Jr. (2006).
Amidst a stunning panoramic view of Manhattan from the Tribeca Rooftop, New York Festivals will be celebrating the best and most creative radio broadcasting the world has to offer. This year's gala begins with a cocktail reception followed by a seated dinner, with the awards presentation at 8:30 p.m. Radio professionals will be awarded for on-air talent, documentaries and programming formats and award-winning work will be showcased throughout the evening.
In conjunction with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI), New York Festivals will also be awarding the UN Award for entries that best promote awareness of worldwide health, social and humanitarian issues. Medalists and Grand Winners will be announced at the June 28 Awards Presentation.
