MacroMedia Flash uses TrueType fonts. But smaller sizes of these fonts can look very fuzzy when viewed on a computer screen because of anti-aliasing. FontFlasher converts almost any format font into a "pixel" TrueType font which turns on only selected pixels. This gives fine text a much clearer, more legible onscreen appearance - just like a bitmap font.
FontFlasher can import any installed font (on Mac or Windows) and works by simplifying the outline to just the essential pixels at a given size. It creates an outline around just those pixels and makes a new TrueType font. When this font is used in Flash no anti-aliasing occurs and only the desired pixels are turned on. The result - crisp, clean text at even the smallest sizes.
FontFlasher is a plug-in for FontLab 4.6 or AsiaFont Studio. It retails for US$27.79. More info can be obtained at the FontFlasher web page: www.fontlab.com. For questions please contact Ted Harrison at info@fontlab.com.
