Singapore Creative Agencies Collect 19 Awards at Cannes Festival

Ogilvy Singapore was named second runner up in the highly coveted "Agency of the Year" at the Cannes Lion International Advertising Festival, following Saatchi's NY office (first place) and DDB London (first runner-up). The accolade is the result of calculating the number of awards each agency has won at this year's festival, and Ogilvy Singapore was the third highest awarded agency. This is the first time an agency from Asia has received such recognition. In total Ogilvy Singapore collected 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze and 16 Finalists. Ogilvy Singapore collected two Gold Lions in the press category; the first for FHM magazine and the second for The Singapore Hospice Council.

Other Singapore agencies also did well at Cannes, with Singapore creative agencies receiving 19 out of the 246 awarded in their categories, bringing the total medal tally to 3 Golds, 6 Silvers, 9 Bronzes and 1 Promo Lion. Other Singapore winners include Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore, McCann Erickson, JWT Singapore, Y&R Asia Singapore, Jonathan Yuen and Publicis Singapore. There was also a record of 5 Singaporeans on the Jury panel this year.

Dr Milton Tan, Director DesignSingapore Council expressed, "I would like to congratulate all our Singapore winners for attaining recognition at such a prestigious international platform for the advertising world. The Council will continue to support and augment industry efforts as our creative agencies grow from strength to strength and become better positioned to service global clients."
