Helvetica Film to Premiere in Seattle on Swiss National Day
EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) has announced it will present the Seattle premiere of "Helvetica," Gary Hustwit's independent film about a typeface.

"Helvetica" will be screened Wednesday, Aug 1, at 7 pm, at Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus. A discussion with the director and design legend Matthew Carter, one of the artists featured in the film, will take place after the show. Northwest native John Downer will offer live demonstrations of Helvetica sign painting throughout the evening.

The screening is free and open to the public.

"Helvetica" is presented as part of TypeCon2007: Letter Space, SOTA's type and design conference. The film screening coincides with Swiss National Day, the annual celebration of the independence of America's sister republic.

This critically-acclaimed festival favorite is a Swiss Dots production, produced in association with Veer. The Seattle event is sponsored by SOTA, Veer, and Swiss Dots, and is hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington.
