Abu Dhabi is primed to emerge as the epicenter of the eSports arena with its construction of the world’s first eSports Island. This ambitious endeavor, valued at over US$280 million, is being helmed by True Gamers, an international network of eSports clubs.
The eSports Island, situated in Al Raha Creek in Al Seef, adjacent to Abu Dhabi’s Hope Island, is expected to reach a final value of US$1 billion upon completion. It aims to be a comprehensive esports ecosystem, and will feature a luxurious hotel with 200 gaming setup-configured rooms, futuristic venues for gaming tournaments, and more.
“The investment will encompass everything from acquiring a private island to curating exclusive adventures, such as a parachute jump check-in inspired by PUBG [PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds], designed to create an unparalleled guest experience,” explains Anton Vasilenko, CEO of True Gamers.
The centerpiece will be the TG Arena, a high-tech venue designed to fill thousands and host major international tournaments, conferences, and exhibitions. Aspiring professional gamers won’t be left out. The island will feature professional training facilities, car simulation zones, content creation spaces, fostering a space for both established and developing talent.
The island will run bootcamps, giving intensive gamers access to top-of-the-line computers, analytical tools, sleep areas, and even a nutrition regime. Camps for kids are also being planned.
For businesses, the Digital Tower will house modern work areas, animation studios, and more.
The UAE, and the Middle East in general, boasts a large and enthusiastic gaming population. With over 60% of the region actively engaged in gaming, the UAE sees esports as a lucrative market with immense potential. This dedicated island positions Abu Dhabi as a frontrunner in the multi-billion dollar esports industry, attracting players, teams, and investors from around the world.
