Michaels Agrees To Be Backdrop For Your ‘Ugly Places, Pretty Photos’ Challenge

You can stop feeling vexed about the location of your next photo shoot and skip over to your nearest art supplies store.

Inspired by the impressive ‘Ugly Places, Pretty Portraits’ work of other photographers, 22-year-old Kelsey Maggart took up the dare in her own way by creating the ‘Hobby Lobby’ challenge, which sees subjects posing against “hideous” backdrops in the store.

The unbelievable results sparked a social media trend that transcended beyond the photography community. The dare, unfortunately, seems to be against the company’s policy.

Luckily for you, Michaels—the leading arts and crafts store in the United States—welcomes the ‘Ugly Places, Pretty Portraits’ dare with open arms instead of sending customers away. Taking to its social media accounts, the brand has willingly given budding photographers the green light to shoot at any of its 1,100 locations.

The company commented in a Facebook post, “We love seeing all of these creative images!” See some amazing results from customers, which testify that it doesn’t take a lot from your pocket to produce quality photographs.
