Launched in 1988, The Eurobest Festival and Awards has now burgeoned into a 3-day festival in Stockholm from 1-3 December 2008. Run by the same team behind the Cannes International Advertising Festival and the Dubai Lynx International Advertising Festival, in co-operation with the Advertising Association of Sweden, the Eurobest 2008 awards strives to celebrate and advance the best of creative advertising in Europe.

The Eurobest Festival saw a record 5896 entries this year with 1199 shortlisted. The event in Stockholm saw the juries award a total of 249 winners with 19 winners in the TV/ Cinema Category, 25 in Print, 35 in Outdoor, 31 in Direct, 27 in Sales Promotion, 2 in Radio, 33 in Interactive, 36 in Media, 35 in Design and 6 in Integrated. Germany won big on the night with 81 awards, followed by Sweden with 41 and Belgium in third place with 23 awards.

DDB scored 3 strategic wins, with DDB London winning the TV/ Cinema Grand Prix for VW. DDB Amsterdam’s ad for VW Golf, “Product Recall”, took the Print Grand Prix, and “Back of the Bus” for Centraal Beheer Achmea swept the Outdoor Grand Prix.

London scored another important win with MPG London taking the Grand Prix for BBC iPlayer. Germany swept the rest of the Grand Prix awards, with Heimat Berlin winning the Sales Promotion Grand Prix with “House of Imagination” for Hornbach, and Nordpol+, Hamburg taking the Design Grand Prix for “Origami”, ASICS Europe.

No Grand Prix awards were presented for Direct, Interactive, Radio or Integrated.

Winners of the Young Creatives Award were Carl Frederik Jannerfeldt, Nina Akestam, Garbergs, and Emmeli Osterdahl, Lowe Brindfors.

The inaugural Interactive Agency of the Year Award went to Farfar Stockholm, narrowly beating Agency Republic to the title.
