Facebook-ed Augmented Reality in French Music Video
By Media / IO, 27 Aug 2010
With ‘real life’ Facebook and augmented reality (AR) becoming the de rigueur techno-media paradigm these days, it’s no surprise for someone to combine the two. What is, however, is who did it.
A French electronic musician, The Toxic Avenger, for the video for his new track “Somehow” took the popular social network to the AR level.
Admittedly a lot more tongue-in-cheek than a serious concept, the video shows the artiste controlling his wardrobe through his iPhone before walking down the street accepting friend requests by tapping on peoples’ *ahem* ‘chests’. No prizes for guessing where the ‘Poke’ button goes.
If anything, the video does show how pervasive social networking is, and the problems that are bound to surface if merged with AR technology. For a start, privacy would probably be a quirky 20th century curiosity.
