Create Cubist Paintings on Your iPhone
By Apps / HXY, 31 Aug 2010
Fans of geometric art, here's a treat: this new iPhone app enables you to 'paint' pictures in the style of the Cubist works by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.
The work of London-based interactive artist James Alliban, Fracture is probably one of the more innovative uses of the phone's camera so far.
The 'painting' is based on a pre-existing image (or from a photo taken on the spot), which the user then transforms into Cubist art by dabbling the finger, much like a paintbrush across the canvas.
Just shake the screen if you are dissatisfied with the outcome to start on another Cubist creation. If you dislike the standard portrait photo, these customized images could even become unique alternatives for your profile picture. So long as you wouldn't mind being represented as an abstraction of shapes and colors, that is.
